I’m generally not one to make New Year’s resolutions because I know I probably won’t keep them. Instead, I like to exceed my own expectations rather than failing to meet impossible standards.

That said, I like to set fashion-oriented goals for myself. Sometimes it’s related to consumption, sometimes it’s about honing in on personal style. So I polled my colleagues on their 2026 goals, too. They span the practical (doing away with the pile of clothes in your bedroom, laying out their clothes the night before) to the curatorial (culling their closets and shopping with intention). Read them below.

1. Wear More Heels

Step into confidence—this year I want to wear heels more often, adding height and polish to everything from jeans to midi skirts.

2. Add Funky Pieces to Wardrobe Basics

I’ll spice up basics like tees and denim with bold jackets, patterned scarves, and statement tops that express more personality.

3. Accessorize More (and Better)

Accessories are game-changers—think layered necklaces, bold sunglasses, sculptural earrings, and curated belts to elevate every look.

4. Adopt a Relaxed Hot-Mom Style

Chic comfort is the goal—think oversized blazers, elevated loungewear, stylish sneakers, and a touch of polished effortlessness.

5. Big Blazer + Loose Pants + Comfy Shoes

I’ve always loved the big blazer and wide-leg pants combo, but this year I’m leaning into it more with fresh comfy footwear and soft silhouettes.

6. Functional Fashion: Lots of Pockets

This year’s focus is on fashion that works—structured pieces with utility details like extra pockets, convertible styles, and wear-anywhere jackets.

7. Invest in a Chic Diaper Bag

Because motherhood doesn’t mean sacrificing style. I’m incorporating a high-end, fashion-forward diaper bag that fits into my everyday wardrobe.

8. Go More Preppy and Classic

Inspired by timeless style, I’m embracing preppy staples—tailored chinos, cashmere cableknits, loafers, and navy blazers.

9. Switch Up My Pants Game

It’s time to retire the skinnies (for now). I’m trying satin pants, cropped flares, pleated trousers, and wide-leg cuts for a more directional vibe.

10. Be More Intentional with Color

Neutrals are great, but I’m ready to pop with more reds, blues, pinks, and greens. Whether it’s a statement coat or colorful knit—bring on the bold.

11. Build a Signature Outerwear Rotation

My goal is to rotate outerwear as outfits. From a sleek trench to a faux fur jacket to a boxy wool coat—each one should tell a style story.

12. Practice Outfit Prepping the Night Before

This is practical and stylish—laying out outfits ahead of time helps me start the day more grounded and confident in my look.

13. Declutter & Shop With Intention

I’m doing a major closet cleanout and refocusing on investment pieces I’ll wear often, rather than impulse buys that sit untouched.

14. Integrate Sustainable Brands

This year I’m supporting ethical and sustainable brands more consciously. Fashion should look good—and do good.

15. Master the Art of Layering

I’m challenging myself to get more creative with layering—mixing proportions, fabrics, and textures for transitional and cold-weather outfits.

16. Invest in Tailoring

Whether it’s hemming pants or adjusting shoulder seams, tailoring makes every outfit look custom—even if it’s not.

17. Sport a Statement Bag Daily

I’m making a bold bag part of my everyday uniform—whether it’s bright, structured, beaded, or metallic, it’s time to go all in.

18. Embrace Seasonal Shoes Beyond Sneakers

While sneakers are always a staple, I’m expanding into loafers, ballet flats, boots, and strappy sandals to better match my outfits and seasons.

Let 2026 be the year you step into your style power. Whether you’re embracing change or refining what already works, these fashion resolutions will help you build a wardrobe you love wearing—every day.
